2022-2023 Safety Pledge
Safety is taught for each lesson given. General safety and commercial kitchen practices are emphasized regularly. However, bodily injury can occur through misuse or disobedience of the instructor’s rules and regulations.
_____ I will promise to follow the safety instructions in the Culinary Arts kitchen, classroom, dining room, multiple purpose room and storage rooms set by my Chef. These rules are set by WTHS culinary & pastry arts program.
_____ I will be responsible for all equipment, tools, and materials I may use. If I intentionally damage equipment, I will be billed for maintenance or replacement of the equipment.
_____ I will not attempt to use any equipment before instruction is given and its use authorized by the instructor.
_____ I promise to report all accidents to the Chef regardless of how minor they may be.
_____ I will not throw any objects of any kind through the air.
_____ I will pick up any liquid I have spilt or see on the floor immediately.
_____ I will not jeopardize the safety of another student or instructor by carelessness, horseplay, or misuse of equipment.
_____ I have been informed of the fire drill procedures and I will always stay with my class when I must leave the building during a fire drill.
_____I have been informed of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and know where they are in the Culinary Arts kitchen.
_____I will not eat, drink, or chew gum in the Culinary Arts Kitchen.
_____I will wear my complete Culinary Arts Uniform (Chef jacket, cook’s pants, hat, apron, and tred-safe shoes) at all times when in the kitchen.
_____Removing any chemicals from the kitchen, is not permitted under any circumstances.
I have initialed off each safety rule as we went over then in class. I am aware that not following these rules will result in disciplinary action (and or) removal from working in the Culinary Arts Kitchen and will receive a “0” for the day.
