CULINARY & PASTRY ARTS INSTRUCTOR & EXECUTIVE CHEFPHIL CROPPERChef Phil Cropper is a culinary arts instructor / teacher at Worcester technical high school –WTHS in Newark, Maryland. He has been teaching culinary arts for over 18 years both in secondary and post-secondary education having taught continuing education courses at the local community college prior. For the past 9 years chef Cropper has been at Worcester Technical High School teaching Culinary arts and pastry arts, both are American culinary federation programs; the culinary arts program received an exemplar status under his direction in 2018. Chef Cropper has been in the restaurant & hospitality business for the past 35 years; starting at the age of 9. After graduating in the top of his class from Baltimore International College in 1997 in both pastry arts and culinary arts. He became the executive chef at the Hobbit Restaurant in Ocean city MD. Chef Cropper has been the pastry chef at the galaxy restaurant and Fager’s island both located in Ocean city Md. He opened his own restaurant The Palette in Snow Hill Maryland in 2010 and the palette pantry in 2012 a Gourmet shop and corner grocery selling only local farm to table products and his own signature spice blends and salad dressings. Chef Cropper is currently a Manager at Fagers Island when he is not in the classroom. He has owned and operated an interior design firm since 2000, He is the principle designer and owner of Phil Cropper designs a commercial interior design firm specializing in high-end design of office spaces, restaurants and specialty shops.
“To infuse yourself in your passions and to share your talents & gifts is the best thing in the world” Cropper believes that being part of the community and giving back are very important. He currently serves as Chairman of the board and was the past president of the Delmarva Cooks and Chefs Association (the local chapter of the ACF for Delmarva), He is president of the Friends of Gwen Lehman Foundation, Served on the Church council for his church, The Worcester County Arts Council, Wor- Wic Community Collage /HMR and Mentors for a local community youth organization in addition to many other local charities. Chef Cropper is on the SkillsUSA National Education Team for Baking and Pastry Arts. |

The Palette at Worcester Tech
The Palette Restaurant is a unique learning environment in which Culinary Arts students operate a full-service kitchen, bake shop, and dining room. As members of the restaurant's waitstaff, students learn different types of service etiquette and styles, such as American, Russian, and French. Behind the scenes in the Palette kitchen, students rotate through food service stations to gain real world experience in food preparation and cooking techniques. Valuable experience is also gained in the planning and production of large-scale functions (200+ people), including the our annual Jazz Gala , the Program Advisory Committee Dinner, community events, and off-site catering
